HEALTH CARE UPDATE

Please call the Governor’s office today and insist that New Jersey join the 18 other States (so far) that are filing lawsuits against the Federal Government declaring the Health Care reform unconstitutional.

Believe it or not, the Governor still can't decide whether or not to join in the lawsuit!

Call the Governor at 609-292-6000. If you are more comfortable faxing a written letter, you can fax your remarks to 609-292-3454. Get your family and friends to do so as well.

FINANCIAL REFORM
Take Action on Financial Regulatory Reform Legislation
Senator Dodd’s Regulation Plan: 14 Fatal Flaws
1. Creates a protected class of “too big to fail” firms.
2. Provides for seizure of private property without meaningful judicial review.
3. Creates permanent bailout authority.
4. Establishes a $50 billion fund to pay for bailouts.
5. Opens a “line of credit” to the Treasury for additional government funding.
6. Authorizes regulators to guarantee the debt of solvent banks.
7. Limits financial choices of American consumers.
8. Undermines safety and soundness regulation.
9. Enriches trial lawyers by authorizing consumer regulators to ban arbitration agreements.
10. Subjects firms to hundreds of varying state and local rules.
11. Subjects non-financial firms to financial regulation.
12 .Imposes one-size-fits-all reform in derivative markets.
13. Allows activist groups to use the corporate governance process for issues unrelated to the corporation or its shareholders.
14. Does nothing to address problems at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

NJ SUPREME COURT
During last year's campaign, Governor Christie promised to change this runaway court. Here's what the Governor said when asked if any of the current justices possessed the qualities he would look for in a judge:
"On the New Jersey Supreme Court right now? No," he said. "I want someone who is extraordinarily bright, and I want someone who will interpret laws and the [state] Constitution, not legislate from the bench."
Now, Governor Christie has his chance.
On May 20th, liberal Justice John E. Wallace will be up for reappointment. Justice Wallace is a supporter of the Abbott decisions. He has ruled in favor of eminent domain abuse. And he even let a convicted cop killer, Thomas Trantino, walk.
Justice Wallace needs to go and Governor Christie needs to live up to his promise to appoint a conservative judge to the bench. If he does not, the New Jersey Supreme Court will remain a rogue, activist court that fails to uphold our constitution and safeguard our rights.

Call Governor Christie now at 609-292-6000. Tell him not to re-nominate Justice Wallace! If you are more comfortable faxing a written letter, you can fax your remarks to 609-292-3454.
